The She is Visible: From Hidden to Headlining, hosted by Coffee & Collab in Pickering, brought together a vibrant community of women entrepreneurs from all over Toronto eager to learn, connect, and grow. This event was more than just a networking opportunity; it was a space where women's voices were heard, stories shared, and inspiration sparked.

This event featured Jennifer Singh from She is Newsworthy as our keynote speaker, Lisa Patel from Property Princess Group as our engaging MC and (Teresa Shaver from BACD, Misty Santos from North Durham Chamber of Commerce, Gizem Uysal from Deal Business Design, Ayesha Mawaz-Khan  from Sotheby’s INTERNATIONAL Realty Komal Jafri from TD Women

Enterprise and Zehra Mahoon( Panel Facilitator from TEDxOshawa) that left attendees with valuable takeaways to apply in their path to navigating visibility.

As one attendee (Yvonne Campbell of Yvonne's Travel & Tours) beautifully put it:

"The event was overall amazing from our brilliant MC (Lisa Patel) and keynote speaker Jennifer Singh. Being in the space with so many wonderful female entrepreneurs collaborating gave it a feeling of community."

If you missed it, here is the official review of how the afternoon ran.

The Power of the Brilliant MC

A great event requires a master of ceremonies who knows how to command a room, read the energy, and set the standard. Lisa Patel did exactly that. She kept the momentum moving from start to finish, leaving the crowd with a beautifully simple, stylish, and non-negotiable directive for showing up in business.

In fact, one of the biggest standout moments of the afternoon for attendee Tracy Mackenzie of SoulMagic Healing was Lisa's beautifully simple, stylish, and non-negotiable directive for showing up in business:

“Wear colour clothes and SHINE!”

Lisa reminded us that visibility isn’t just about the words you speak, it’s about the energy you bring into the room and how you allow yourself to be seen.

The Masterclass on Media Visibility

With the energy high, our keynote speaker, Jennifer Singh, took the stage to deliver an absolute masterclass on cracking the the media environment. Jennifer cut right through the usual fluff and laid out the reality of modern publicity.

If you want the media to take an interest in your business, Jennifer's rules should be your new guide.

  • Focus on the present: Your story must tie directly to the current news cycle. You have to ask yourself: “Why is my tip important right this second?”

  • Own your perspective: Show up with a razor-sharp point of view and a clear summary of what you do. Differentiate yourself. If you can't articulate why you're unique, the media won't bother trying to figure it out for you.

  • Master the timeline: You have to anticipate exactly when the media will need your information, not just when you feel like giving it to them.

Her client stories were highly relatable and realistic, which made the advice seem attainable rather than theoretical. Attendees left feeling inspired to implement tangible actions in their businesses.

For one attendee(Amanda Davids), the absolute highlight of the keynote was Jennifer’s masterclass on pitching:

“Jennifer Singh's media visibility session completely changed how I think about publicity. Her advice to make your media pitch relevant to the current news cycle and to have a crystal-clear summary of what makes your business unique was pure gold."

Insights from the Panel Discussion

The panel featured 5 women leaders from all over Toronto within diverse industries, each bringing unique perspectives on leadership and visibility. The conversation was touching on real-world challenges and practical solutions navigating the path to visibility.

The conversation focused heavily on the mechanics of navigating visibility as a female entrepreneur today. The panel dropped a massive, necessary warning about the lazy temptation of modern tech, a piece of advice that heavily resonated with the audience.

As one attendee (Tracy Mackenzie) noted in her key takeaways from the panel discussion:

"Don’t use only AI for social media posts. People can tell the difference between your voice and AI."

Consistency is crucial, yet as the panel reminded us, it shouldn't come at the expense of your integrity.

Power, Purpose, and the Herizon House Story

True visibility is about using your platform to shine a light on things that matter. Being visible in your local community by supporting other businesses, events, and charities is how you build deep-rooted trust.

The emotional anchor of our afternoon arrived when we shared the very personal, deeply moving Herizon House stories of women fleeing domestic abuse. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of everyone in that room.

As another attendee (Karen Porter of Karen Porter Women's Health & Wellness Coach) reflection perfectly highlighted:

"Being in the space with so many wonderful female entrepreneurs collaborating gave it a feeling of community. Loved hearing the very personal Herizon House story! What I love most about this space is that it’s built on real values."

Attendee Takeaways and Reflections

Feedback from attendees highlighted below:

  • "Visibility is crucial to business success. Being amazing at what we do is the easy part, but if you’re the best-kept secret, it doesn't matter how good your product is. Whether it’s supporting local charities, staying active on social media, or being interviewed on podcasts, being visible builds the knowledge and trust people need to work with you." Darcy from Embrace Surrogacy

  • Learning how to communicate your story effectively can help turn your experience into recognized expertise and authority." Tinnelle from Silvertree Educational Consulting

There are a thousand different ways to build visibility. You can write articles, get interviewed on podcasts, secure TV spots, or build a powerhouse presence on social media. What works for your business might look completely different than what works for the person sitting next to you.

But the overarching lesson of this event is beautifully simple: Showing up matters.
